The Historic Ticket Booth of G Street

The Ticket Booth is located on G street just off of Route 135 in Mountain Lake Park. The ticket booth was built in 1900 and was used in conjunction with the Bashford Ampitheater. It now houses a museum that is open regularly on monthly occasions. Contact 301-334-4314 or 301-334-2250 for more information.

Mountain Lake Park Historic District

Mountain Lake Park, Maryland is a unique town that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Several Homes in the area have been listed individually on the Register. Also located in Mountain Lake Park among the historic homes, are the old MLP train station, and the MLP clay tennis courts located adjacent to the MLP Town Hall.

Mountain Lake Park Tennis Club- Located adjacent to the MLP Town Hall are clay courts that are open to the public, for a fee, when weather permits. It plays host to the Western Maryland Tennis Championship every year in August. For lessons, clinics or play please call 301-334-3826 or 201-334-4641.

The Stained Glass Gallery-Visit our complete showroom of 2000 stained glass, lamps, panels, sun catcher, etc. Stained Glass lessons, tools, supplies, books, and much more available. Open 7 days a week. 214 I street, Mountain Lake Park, MD 21550. 301-334-8222.

Camping in Garrett County-Camping in State Forests comes with primitive conditions and campsites without manmade improvements. The season lasts all year long, pets are allowed, and Quiet Time is 11 p.m. State Parks vary in times of operation and service charges. Call the specific State Park where you wish to stay for more information, no campers are allowed to enter the camping grounds after 10 p.m. Improved grounds and full service cabins are available. www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands

Swallow Falls State Park-Home to the state's tallest freefalling waterfall, Muddy Creek Falls, Swallow Falls offers fun for every season and lodging and camping are also available.

Fishing-Free fishing Days offered by the Maryland Department of Natural Rescources are June 4,11, and July 4,2005. (No Fishing License is required to fish in Maryland Freshwaters on these Days). Streams and lakes located throughout Garrett County, some of which are stocked by the DNR. The 45th Annual Garrett County Fishing Contest spondered by the Chamber of Commerce & Deep Creek Outfitters is held May 1st through September 30.

Canoeing-Great paddling adventure available on Broadford Lake just outside the Mountain Lake Park limits and seven other lakes throughout the county.

Biking-Miles of rolling terrain for the beginner through the intermediate cyclist are available in the county. Mountain Lake Park has many "bicycle friendly" areas that provide for a scenic view as well as a enjoyable adventure. The Maryland State Highway Administration has provided for 10 foot shoulders on Routes 40, 135, and 219. Route 135 runs through the heart of Mountain Lake Park just to the east of Oakland. Pick up a trail map at the Visitors Center or online at www.dnr.state.md.us and remember always wear a helmet.

The Art of Making Maple Syrup-Steyer Brothers Maple Syrup farm offers tours during sugaring times. The season runs from February to early April. Please call 301-334-2900 for more information.

Deep Creek Lake-Located 15 minutes south of Mountain Lake Park on Route 219 south. Recreation available for every season of the year; from boating, swimming, and fishing in the summer to skiing and ice fishing in the winter. Garrett County Chamber of Commerce

Ski and Golf in Garrett County-Garrett County offers two public championship golf courses, The Oakland Golf Club and The Wisp, along with two par-three courses, Evening Breeze and Waterfront Greens. And in winter you can visit WISP Resort on Deep Creek Lake for fun on the slopes and much much more.
